A Lush And Fantastical Single from SeeD

An absolutely gorgeous new single from SeeD hits what would be considered Pagan folk, with warm acoustic guitars, flute, and an absolutely fantastical overtone that sort of picks you up and whisks you away to a different place altogether.

Listening to this single pulls you away from wherever you are, and whatever you're doing, and when you're done with the song, you have to reacclimate yourself back to reality again.

It's one of the most beautiful escapes I've had in quite some time.

The track comes through lush and sort of full-bodied with soothing vocals that invite you in, and the tonality of all this natural instrumentation just feels amazing.

It is indeed quite a welcoming single and one that showcases how the band is able to create wonderfully woven worlds for you to step into.

You have a great Celtic undertone coming through with a lot of the melodies, especially when it comes to the vocals, bringing out this gorgeous hook right at the beginning of the song.

The wind instruments and the combination with the acoustics sort of engulf you, and I mean it in the best way possible.

Soon enough, more vocals come in and follow her in that main hook, and it becomes bigger. The song creates a certain kind of depth that pulls you in, and once you're in this very robust atmosphere, you don't want to leave.

The progressions and melodies throughout the song just feel vintage. They feel like melodies from songs that have been around for 100-plus years.

Because they nailed the system so well, the song feels cinematic to me. It's like music that you would hear in the middle of a scene, showing a village in a film based in medieval times.

The percussion is a really key element throughout this track as well. It's lightly percussive, but it's there, and it adds this hint of drive to the song, while also bringing out that natural and forward-moving flow incredibly well.

You also have this amazing bit of synergy happening between the players.

It feels almost like they recorded the entire thing live and in one room. All the players are feeding off of each other and creating this calm but still boisterous soundscape.

The guitar work is perfected. It is done with an amazing attention to detail, as is the rest of the performances, but it all has this specific kind of heart to it.

I don't think I've heard something that took me to such a different place so quickly.

They did an amazing job in terms of the arrangement as well, as the song really builds up and becomes bigger as it unfolds.

If you listen to this song with headphones on, you can really soak in all the layers of textures and tones that come through, and this is a really big element to how you get surrounded and wrapped up by everything that's happening.

I would love to see a performance like this live in person. If they can capture this kind of energy and aesthetic on record so well, then seeing them live must be outstanding.

Now, you can hear other elements that are infused within this track, but to really get a grasp of what this band is all about, you should also take a bit of a deep dive into their back catalog and check out records like Fae, from 2022.

This album is absolutely amazing and features 14 tracks spanning about an hour in length.

I would definitely start with "Bloem" so you can get a grasp of that fantastical blend of Pagan folk, and once that's over, check out some of the rest of their stuff because it's all going to bring you deeper into their world.

A lot of it has that cinematic backbone that I mentioned earlier, but that's part of the gig. They naturally create these atmospheres.

With three full-length albums under their belt, there's plenty to soak in, and it's all more than worth your time, especially if you love music that serves as a great escape. Which is exactly what this stuff does. It lets you escape and forget about the real world and everything else that comes with it.

I think we need more music like this out there. Music that lets you feel something or let your mind roam free, and allows visuals to pop up in your head as songs play through.

So, get the headphones out, and check out "Bloem", and more from SeeD.

You won't be sorry you did.
