A beautiful new single release from Kay Soul delivers a powerful breed of honesty that comes through with gorgeous and lush vocals that give the song an impactful and cinematic tonality while she lets out what she needs to which, all in all, gives the song so much personality that you end up holding on to that the most.
"Heavy Heart" certainly has the kind of feel that makes you think that it was cathartic for Kay to write and release because she had so much inner thought and emotional drive to just get off of her chest that the song absolutely needed to happen.
Be that as it may, whoever is listening to the song can really relate to what's going on. I'm not going to give away the entire premise of the song of course, however it is intense and has these waves of emotions that come and go in the form of beautiful layers of vocals that are harmonious and thick.
There are so many gorgeous melodies sprinkled throughout this song and then that chorus is heavy, so it has a great effect on the listener. After all, the song can cause memories of your own to pop into your head especially if you're a bit of an emotional person in general because this song will reach into those memories and bring them out.
I like songs like this because it makes you feel like it was written just for you even though you know it wasn't.
It's that connective energy and approach that makes it work so well and Kay seems to have a natural knack for releasing songs of this nature.
This is the kind of artist that gives a piece of herself with each song that she releases and I think that's important because not a lot of artists do that anymore.
It's a factor that I miss and to hear it now with Kay Soul really left its mark because her performance is so passionate and powerful that you can hear that emotion flowing through it.
She has a wonderful way of making you feel like you are right there in the moment with her and that is unique.
This release shows how Kay can put heart into those performances even on record.
The energy and heart on this single in particular makes you want to go see her perform live right in your face because if this kind of energy is captured on record then seeing her live must be intense.
You can easily see this song in the scene of a film or a TV show again, because of the performance in the emotional backbone that it leans on.
Aesthetic and whole feel of this track is completely nailed from beginning to end and Kay just feels like the type of artist that has been singing since she was a little girl.
One of my favorite aspects about this track is how she puts in these sort of cry out backing vocals in there that really just build on that atmosphere and pull out that emotion.
There are times when her vocals are used as instruments themselves and that's wonderful as well because it adds such robust textures to the song.
This was excellent and I suggest you listen to this one with headphones on so you can soak in all the things that are happening in the track itself but, I also suggest that you listen to some of her other releases because there are more than a few outstanding singles, albums, EPS, and more throughout her Spotify catalog.
Our most recent EP called Heavy Love, is outstanding and shows different sides to how she writes and performs. There's a lot of R&B soul-pop and crossovers of old and new styles and approaches.
There's about a day's worth of listening there and I think it's worth your time just to dive right in.
