A new EP release from Rags and Riches hits a fresh and colorful pop style that incorporates such a bright character that it's almost impossible to look away from.
"Boujee Broke" (The title track) serves almost as a testament to what so many of us are actually dealing with these days and what we feel like we should just get up start doing.
The message is loud and clear, and everyone can relate to it. Everything costs so much money now and sometimes we just want to say screw it and spend our money on what we want for a change.
I love the way that this is portrayed in the song because it's just packed with persona and that energy does such a great job to grab your attention.
This track is an absolute banger and has pretty much all the elements that are really good radio-ready pop song should have along with a unique swagger that brings everything together and creates an atmosphere that's danceable and incredibly fun and this sticks through the EP.
This single speaks absolute volumes for the EP itself and how these guys are able to create a song that hooks on to you and in all the best ways possible.
Not only the record super relatable but it's actually saying the things that we want to say out loud without even knowing it.
That's what's great about a good pop release like this. It speaks for more than just the artists and the group. It also speaks for a lot of other people and this approach lets the song make sense for such a wide age group that it's crazy.
Most things about this record are addictive from the beat to the lyrical phrasing and how those plucky guitars land perfectly and give the song that bounce that it needs.
This is one of those EP's that you try not to dance to but end up shaking your ass in your seat while you're listening to it because it's just impossible to deny yourself the fun of moving to this track.
The arrangement and build of the songs are all very well thought out and there's definitely to tracking something like this, but it always has this particular kind of heart that's undertoned throughout the song itself.
This is the kind of thing that keeps you there listening.
On top of that, you have choruses that serve as an amazing hook that pop in and out of your brain later on in the day and nothing says a good record like songs that keeps coming back at you.
It's been a while since I've heard a record this fun and relatable so this was not only refreshing but it gave me a sense of not feeling so alone in the things that I wish I could be doing in some trying financial times.
A smart and vibrant release from a group that we should be keeping an eye on.
The title track should be on major pop radio stations everywhere, to be honest. Dive into this one when you get a chance, it's super fun.
