An album release from Jacquelyn Schreiber delivers such an intense and beautifully woven soundscape that comes along with a massive and robust character which is one of the biggest things you end up getting attached to right off the bat and the best part is, that sticks strong throughout the record, so you really have something amazing to hold on to throughout its course.
The Flown album is a piano pop record that is expansive and covers a lot more ground than just pop in general. You get these almost theatrical arrangements and performances that all have a way of interconnecting with each other almost like this is a concept album of sorts.
Even if it's not exactly a concept album, these songs definitely serve as chapters in the artist's life and with each one she's sort of gives a little piece of herself even if it's not so serious.
I find this to be super refreshing and even relieving in a way simply because this is a full album of songs that all came from someplace real and that to me is something that I feel like I've missed in pop music for quite a while so to hear it now was a breath of fresh air and Jacquelyn does an amazing job at giving off such a vivacious and vibrant color throughout this record that you can't turn away from it.
It's not that she's animated, because she's really not. It's more that theatrical tonality and how she gives things such a wonderfully almost bubbly pop sheen at times but not all the time.
This is one of those albums that you listen to all the way through from beginning to end because listening to only one or two songs from the record does not give you the full spectrum of what it actually has to offer.
This is riddled with personality and addictive and electrified pop hooks that all come with this energy that is so infectious that you want to just take it with you for the rest of the day.
This is really more of an experience than just an album. I know that sounds cliche but it's honestly true. This record has the ability to pull you away from your surroundings and put you into someone else's life for little chunks of time, and that to me, is so connective that it's worth listening to.
Her vocal performance throughout the record changes a little bit here and there depending on the song and its premise but all in all she's got this element of something almost fantastical that comes with the record and she brings this presence with her heavy-handedly so when you hear a song from Jacquelyn Schreiber, you'll know it's her.
I think this is something else that's been missing from certain kinds of pop music for quite some time. Not only does this record bring a piano pop in contemporary undertone at times but it does so with a particular edginess and attitude that feels good to listen to because there's a freeing element about it.
These songs are fun, packed with charisma and a wondrous energy, there's honesty, there's blends of old and new school approaches, and I feel like there's something for almost anyone on this record.
I adore having a record that I can sort of get wrapped up in for a little while because you don't get it often.
Jacquelyn is a natural when it comes to writing songs that feel alive and breathing. Songs that could be part of a play that you're watching from the high seats at a theater.
This was endlessly fun and quite riddled with amazing performances on all counts including piano and vocals especially of course, and it's more than worth your time.
Dive into this one when you can and again, I highly suggest you do the full album because then you can soak in everything and really has to offer and believe me, there's plenty there.
