A new single release from Julia Dales gives off an honest approach but with this edgy undertone in the form of a vast but driving electronic dance single and throughout its course you get a robust personality that comes through but also these amazing synth and key textures along with a songwriting approach that seems to grow in intensity the deeper in you listen.
"Silver Lady" is a love song of sorts and if you listen to the lyrics they get into some great detail, and I love the way that she articulates her words.
It's the kind of song you listen to and you understand it if you've been in a similar situation and when you think about it you come to realize that you may have felt these kinds of things before but never knew exactly how to save them or articulate them into words let alone words and music so when you hear a song like this it can be incredibly connective and relatable for reasons like that.
I love the vocal approach on this because it's got this great sort of quivering vibrato and that makes things feel somewhat intense and dramatic which is part of the point of the song.
Being taken over by a feeling is an intense and rattling thing and this song depicts that super well.
The whole song was beautifully constructed and there was plenty of attention to detail, but it never loses that character or that sort of heart that it begins with in the first place, and that is one of the more important aspects of the track.
This is because you hold on to that character. Because you understand that character. You absolutely get where she's coming from and it's a wonderful thing.
As you listen through the song and it unfolds you get more and more of that edginess and that comes again, in the forms of those synths and the textures that they give off which add even more of a vastness and almost cinematic feel to the undertone of everything.
There's a piano track that is the sort of base of the song along with this almost '90s kind of beat which I adored as well because when you listen to the track as a whole, you can hear that she is blending elements of old and new school songwriting approaches together and it works like a charm.
This track was incredibly danceable and very infectious.
I feel like this song speaks volumes for Julia as an artist because not only does it showcase how she can write a song that builds in intensity and has a drive behind it with meaning, purpose, and character, but it also shows that she's able to give little pieces of herself in her music as well and I think that's a very important aspect in today's musical world.
Because of that, the song feels authentic and that's what I really enjoyed about this.
That authenticity is something you don't come across often but when you listen to the song you can tell that this came from someplace real.
The choice of sounds and the entire atmosphere that the song delivers is engulfing and not only do you get engulfed by it and wrapped up by everything, but eventually you get washed away with this soundscape as well.
In my opinion, it feels great to do exactly that. Get washed away with the soundscape of this song.
This was a wonderfully woven single from an artist I'm definitely going to be paying a lot more attention to from here on out so I would suggest you check this track out and do so either with headphones on so you can soak in everything that's going on, or turn it nice and loud because it sounds really good that way.
This song had a certain kind of effect on me so check it out and see how it affects you.
