The Cavernous Release an LP you Have to Call 1-877-420-9159 TO Listen to

If you are not too familiar with the sounds of a group called The Cavernous, then let us be among the first to introduce you to the guys, as they just released a new LP that is unique in its sound but just as unique and its release format.

First of all, The Cavernous is a duo from British Columbia, and they've been making some waves lately simply because they have this alluring sound and approach to their music, but also because this is an LP that's not on Spotify.

As a matter of fact, it's technically not on Bandcamp either.

This is an LP that draws from the theme of being on hold and the music you'd hear while waiting for someone to answer your call.

Because of this concept, the only way to listen to the Please Hold record is to actually call 1-877-420-9159.

Upon calling the number, you hear the first track, which is a beautiful little piano piece, and a voiceover saying, "Thank you for your patience. Have you considered logging on to our easy-to-use website?"

After that first intro, you get into the record and the first track, which is called "Quinze", giving quite an invasive and colorful, funk-riddled and infectious approach that takes an electronic approach but keeps in some natural instrumentation and unique percussion.

The deeper into the record you get, the more you hear some eclectic songwriting approaches that have dream pop elements, and some classic keys all throughout its play.

After a few more songs, you get another message saying to please hang tight as the call is important before reeling into a track called "Ochre", which has a wonderfully experimental feel but still under the umbrella of that electronic genre.

Some of the songs have a wider tone that reminds you of post-punk or a little bit of New Wave, dance pop, or just songs that you would hear from the soundtrack of a film made in the 1980s.

There's almost always something a little different and unique about each track and it's pretty impressive how these guys encompass such a wide range of electronic songwriting within this one record, even though technically it's around 14 or 15 tracks long.

That's not including the little "please stay on hold" bits.

This was a great record, and you can tell they had a lot of fun with it, not really taking themselves too seriously and coming up with a unique plan and format to release the record with.

There are places where you can hear a few tracks, but calling the phone number is the only way to listen to the full LP and experience what the idea was in the first place.

So once again, to listen to this LP, you have to call 1-877-420-9159.

Go ahead and dial now and dive into this slightly off-the-wall, very experimental, but colorfully infectious record.
