With the release of the "songs for girls" single, shamathehuman takes a fresh approach to blending several genres to create something all her own. Laced with character, an edgy pop undertone, and plenty of hooks, the record boasts the aesthetic of building-pop anthems.

"For once, I don’t have much to say. I think the music says it all. I am ready to be brutally honest in my songwriting. This is that. I hope that there are people who relate or dance or cry or feel moved to be more honest, as well. Whether that be with themselves or with another person. If we are not honest in music, then what are we doing? Just saying words in some key and swaying back and forth. When the music becomes a true reflection of who the artist (human being) is, beautiful things can happen.” explains Shama of her single.
Although the single speaks volumes for the artist, to get a full understanding of where shama the human is really coming from, her catalogue should be heard in its entirety.
“I’m confident in myself as an artist now and I think that’s the biggest difference. Sure, I was making cool shit before, but when I finally started to like myself, I was like, hm, I’m onto something, aren’t I? As far as production, I’ve just gotten better. Practice, learning from others, and stepping outside of my comfort zone in terms of music have all been key. Most of the time I listen to stuff I make and I don’t know how I made it. It’s crazy what you can create if you just kind of…do it? I try not to think about it so hard. My sound is what it is and then it changes and then changes again and…on and on. It’s fun.” says the artist of creating her sound.
The story of how this all began for Shama starts when she was only five and her sister began playing Alicia Keys around her. The Diary Of Alicia Keys album just released and upon listening to it and watching her videos she could feel her desire to sing coming out.
At that age, Shama was known for singing and dancing around as it came so naturally to her. She also had a passion for storytelling, writing and speaking so she decided to take all of it and bring it into a musical realm.
It worked like a charm and the artist never stopped.
Later she began to teach herself to record and produce her own material and the rest is history.
The "Songs for Girls" is a testament to where she is at with her sound right now.
The single will be available on most major digital outlets for streaming and download on Dec. 23rd and Shama is already putting together new ideas for upcoming releases.
