With the release of the home EP, shamathehuman takes a new approach to blending several genres to create something all her own. Laced with character, an edgy pop undertone, and plenty of hooks, the record boasts the aesthetic of dance-pop anthems.

The first single "A Deep Breath" grabs you with harmonious vocals and a bright groove that all becomes infectious.

"I never really know what I’m making when I’m making it. I just sit down and start. And then I sort of vomit shit up. I let it all be what it wants to be. I can tell you that when I wrote this EP, I was finally living on my own, enjoying space and feeling like I could breathe for the first time in a while. Maybe for the first time ever? “Do my eyes deceive me or is everything fine?” I wasn’t used to feeling so good and so safe and, idk, free. But I felt it. And that’s what this EP talks about.” explains Shama of her single.

Although the single speaks volumes for the EP, to get a full understanding of where shama the human is really coming from, the EP should be heard in its entirety.

“I’m confident in myself as an artist now and I think that’s the biggest difference. Sure, I was making cool shit before, but when I finally started to like myself, I was like, hm, I’m onto something, aren’t I? As far as production, I’ve just gotten better. Practice, learning from others, and stepping outside of my comfort zone in terms of music have all been key. Most of the time I listen to stuff I make and I don’t know how I made it. It’s crazy what you can create if you just kind of…do it? I try not to think about it so hard. My sound is what it is and then it changes and then changes again and…on and on. It’s fun.” says the artist of creating her sound.

The story of how this all began for Shama starts when she was only five and her sister began playing Alicia Keys around her. The Diary Of Alicia Keys album just released and upon listening to it and watching her videos she could feel her desire to sing coming out.

At that age, Shama was known for singing and dancing around as it came so naturally to her. She also had a passion for storytelling, writing and speaking so she decided to take all of it and bring it into a musical realm.

It worked like a charm and the artist never stopped.

Later she began to teach herself to record and produce her own material and the rest is history.

The home EP is a testament to where she is at with her sound right now.

home is available on most major digital outlets for streaming and download and Shama is already putting together new ideas for upcoming releases.
