A new double-sided album release from Grooveswitch hits a heavy-handed funk atmosphere and does so with a powerful energy and an addictive charm that all create an atmosphere that you never want to leave.
The album itself consists of nine tracks divided into side A and side B but the whole thing delivers an impactful ultra-funk setting that really will get your butt moving in your seat from the first track on.
Seriously, it's impossible not to dance and move your body to these songs because all the grooves are incredibly infectious, and the energy levels are through the roof simply because you can tell that these players are feeding off of each other's energies the entire time almost like this whole thing was a live recording.
This is something that I admire because a lot of times no matter what the genre, it's sometimes difficult to capture a certain kind of energy on a recording the way it's done here.
Perhaps these were actually recorded live on the floor and then maybe overdubbed later on or perhaps not.
Either way, it makes you want to see them live in person so that you can just get hit with this intense funk atmosphere.
These guys give off a lot of character and the songs come through with loads of heart which may be the most important aspect of it all.
This is clearly done by a group of people who have a pure love for their craft, and I don't just mean their instruments, I mean building these songs together and creating something unstoppable by doing so.
Grooveswitch is a force to be reckoned with and once you get a taste of it you're addicted.
You'll want more and more and the good news about that is this record delivers from beginning to end.
There are a few singles here that stick out to me and would do well on their own however having said that, I would suggest that you listen to your side A and then side B from start to finish because I feel like that's the way this was all meant to be soaked in.
You'll rarely find a record with so much lush instrumentation and so much color and vivacious energy coupled with such seasoned musicianship and attention to detail.
This record hits a particular aesthetic and does it damn well along with a wonderful charm and all of it is electric.
The baselines are outstanding, the horn sections are performed with vigor and excitement, and everything about this record just makes you want to be a part of it.
This was fun, danceable, collective, addictive, and you can tell that this band had such a great time doing this that even that aspect shines through.
You automatically have a great time just listening to this record.
This is one of the best ways to start your day hands down.
If you play this record first thing in the morning it's going to set the tone for the rest of your day and it'll be a really good tone trust me.
The deliveries and performances across all the tracks here are so aesthetically pleasing that it's ear candy.
It's been a long time since I've heard stuff like this and it was very enjoyable and refreshing because I think that a lot of us need music like this right now.
This record makes you feel alive and it gets your blood pumping.
I would definitely suggest popping this on and turning it up because no matter how loud you turn it, it just keeps getting better and better.
I'm going to give this a straight 10 out of 10 which is a rarity.
You're going to enjoy the heck out of this album.
