A Descriptive and Genuine Album from Molly Mckew

An album release from Molly Mckew delivers a special breed of honesty that's given with descriptive lyrics and emotionally driven thought process, and it all comes through with such a lush character that you end up getting attached to that right from the start.

It should Have Been Done with Ease is an album that has a lot of layers to be peeled back and in order to understand where Molly is coming from with this release, it needs to be listened to from beginning to end because certain songs interconnect in different ways but really this album serves as a series of chapters from the artist's life and if you only listen to one or two songs you're not getting the full picture.

Alongside that, there are several different styles of songwriting approaches throughout the record and by listening to only a few tracks you're not getting the full spectrum of what the album has to offer musically either.

It's been quite a while since I've heard a record that digs this deep and has such a natural knack for description lyrically to the point where I feel like half of this record or more, was incredibly cathartic for Molly to actually write and release while the listener can relate to a lot of these songs in different ways as well.

Certain tracks can cause memories of your own to pop into your head at random and others feel like they were written just for you even though you know they weren't. To have that connection be made musically is outstanding.

This is a singer-songwriter record and there are different styles that fall under that genre throughout the course of the album, so you get songs that feel like they were written in the 1950s or 60s and songs that feel like they're indie pop songs to an extent as well.

One of the things that I adore most about this record is the way that she performs vocally because at times she uses her voice as just an instrument itself giving off these almost angelic harmonies that float through the ether of the songs and create an atmosphere that you fall right into.

These are the elements that make a lot of the songs feel lusher and more full-bodied.

There are also songs on the record that have these sorts of full orchestrated sections in there and those come through with a vaster and more open feel so, you're getting all these different vibes and styles of songwriting when you listen to the whole album.

You can tell that there was a lot of attention to detail during the creation process of this record however, it never loses that character that it starts with in the first place and that may be the most important aspect about the whole thing.

On top of that, you can tell everything comes from such a detailed and real place, so you know everything's completely authentic which just adds to the aesthetic that the album delivers.

I cannot express enough how listening to this full album is important.

This is like an escape. When you listen to the record you start getting pulled away from your surroundings and you are put into a different life altogether and when it's over you feel like you've just read a book or watched a film.

You have to reacclimate yourself back to your reality when this record is over and that's something I haven't come across in a long time.

The whole thing was wonderfully woven together with heart, persona, and honesty, and there are plenty of melodies that stick in your head for hours or sometimes days after the songs have ended and the only way to satiate that is to listen to them again.

A lot is going on with this release and for me, it was rejuvenating in a sense.

Listen to this record when you can and see how it affects you.
