With the release of the Dances of Us - EP, MimiQ takes a new approach to some classic genres and creates something all her own. Laced with character, an edgy but colorful tone, and naturally lush production feel, the record boasts the feeling of cinematic pop songwriting.

The first single “Wanderlust” represents that point in time where you get lost in the adventure of getting to know someone in more depth. In a sense, you start to lust after the unknown, because pursuing it guarantees nothing but magic and wonder. Every detail that you discover seems perfect, which just keeps you crawling back for more." explains the artist of her single.

Although the single speaks volumes for the EP, to get a full understanding of where MimiQ is coming from the EP should be heard in its entirety.

"This EP allowed me to really take in just how much I’ve evolved as a producer. When I first started out, I had no idea what I was doing! Thank God for Full Sail giving me the education to do what I love, but at first, I’d make songs that only centered around one musical idea. There was no progression, and the song would only have a duration of maybe a minute. Making this EP taught me that one musical idea can be tied through multiple changes, modes, etc. to create a cohesive song. A good body of work tells a story. And a great story has parts that connect it all." says MimiQ of creating the record.

The story of how MimiQ began her musical journey starts with her parents who are both musicians. Being pretty much born into music as her mother and father spent hours at their studio with a little MimiQ in their arms was how she was introduced to the world.

Naturally by the age of 2, she was already grasping that concept of harmony and soon after began singing and hearing them.

Performing chorus at school and church choir enhanced her gift and let her experience performing at Canegie Hall at the age of 15. But her claim to what shaped her into the musician she is today, is a gospel group called SHiFT that she performs with.

Being a part of the group really helped shape her musical ear and let her develop much further as a musician and performer.

The group began as a youth choir in 2009 and evolved into their own singing group that has been going strong ever since.

The Dances of Us - EP is a testament to where she is today with her sound.
